 U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio Urges Russia to End War Without Delay

U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio has issued a firm warning to Russia, stating that the Trump administration will not participate in endless negotiations regarding the war in Ukraine. Following a meeting with NATO foreign ministers in Brussels, Rubio made it clear that the United States expects a swift and reasonable resolution to the conflict.

As reported by Ukrainian Pravda, Rubio emphasized that President Trump is committed to ending the war on terms that are acceptable to both Ukraine and Russia. “It is possible to end this war on terms acceptable to both sides—if both sides agree,” he said. “But a decision must come within weeks, not months.”

Rubio cautioned that any attempt by Russia to stall talks or employ delaying tactics would lead the U.S. to reconsider its willingness to remain engaged. “If you’re interested in peace, you stop fighting and lay out reasonable terms to end the war,” Rubio stated. “If Russia launches a new offensive, it will signal a clear lack of interest in peace.”

He did not provide a specific deadline for a peace agreement but underscored the urgency of a resolution, stressing that the U.S. would lose interest in further negotiations if progress isn’t made soon.

Adding to the urgency of the situation, Ukrainian Deputy Foreign Minister Andriy Sybiha confirmed that Russia has recently violated a ceasefire agreement related to energy and infrastructure. In a post on the platform X (formerly Twitter), Sybiha said he met with Rubio at NATO headquarters and briefed him on Russia’s continued aggression.

“Ukraine is fully committed to peace and has taken concrete, unconditional steps to achieve it, whereas Russia continues to drag its feet,” Sybiha stated. “I also informed Secretary Rubio about Russia’s recent violations of the energy ceasefire.”

Rubio reaffirmed the United States’ support for Ukraine’s sovereignty and emphasized that peace must be achieved through meaningful, good-faith efforts from all parties involved.
